In this on-scene CBC News report, the correspondent confirms what many supporters feared: the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) completed the nighttime mass cull of ostriches using “experienced marksmen.”

Witnesses told CBC that hundreds of gunshots rang out across the valley. Supporters heard repeated rounds lasting late into the night.

The reporter notes that the Supreme Court of Canada declined to hear the appeal, sealing the fate of hundreds of healthy birds.

CFIA stated it had “consulted experts” and deemed professional marksmen “the most humane option,” but footage and testimony from the scene suggest prolonged suffering and chaotic conditions.

I spent last night organizing everything so hopefully this will go quicker. If I send repeats or partial repeats combine them to where they should be. Let me know if we already have it or if it completes a transcript. I’m hoping to finish data today.
When we get all information I want t make a raw copy of every thing in order with only slight tweaking & corrections so that I can share to anyone that is willing to make a documentary to share with the world.

Right now, it is very quiet here. It's actually eerily quiet. We have been here a few times over the past few weeks and we always would see ostriches and now we're not seeing ostriches and the Canadian food inspection agency has said that it has completed the call of the ostriches last night several of my colleagues from radio Canada we're here about 10 after six and they heard shots fired. They heard five rounds with about 12 shots in each of those rounds. I was also hearing one of the supporters talking to another person and he said he was here till midnight and had heard hundreds of shots now to CIA has put out a statement and said that it had consulted with experts and decided that experienced marksman would be the best and most appropriate and most humane option to use so they brought in professional marksman to conduct this call on this property. We know that the birds are still on the property. We don't know where they will be moved to now that the call is done.
