Freud's Two Drives: Sadistic Misogyny (Part 2)

Following the general model of mind in Freud that locates two psychological drives working in our unconscious mental space in Part 1, this video shows the practical application and outworking of the sadistic drive in misogyny that erupts within heterosexual men.

An outline of Freud's papers for further research is presented, along with a distinction between BDSM or kink sex and sadistic misogyny acts. The differences between feminism, sociology, social anthropology and psychoanalysis are explored diagrammatically to show their potential for integration. A brief note on Freud's thoughts about the sublimation of the sadistic drive is also presented.

This is then followed by examples of how sadistic misogyny is already occupying the space of AI is worked through a recent publication by Laura Bates' "The New Age of Sexism". Working through her chapter titles, it becomes clear that Freud's sadistic drive can be seen in the routine harassment, sexual threats and abusive behaviour that heterosexual men are unconsciously compelled to act out towards women. Sadistic misogyny is also illustrated in forensic criminal actions which Bates does not mention. This pave the way for the masochistic drive in the following videos which is heterosexual men's attempt to reject sadism, but with tragic consequences for them.
