Back when I was a city fellah up on Long Island—long ago—I learned to respect and appreciate the woodlands. In the 1950s, Long Island still had plenty.
Now, after more than 20 years living in a South Carolinian forest, in the autumn of my years, that appreciation has deepened into love. A love for the rural. A love for raw, untamed nature.
