Wake-up call

So it seems that the government shutdown may end possibly today, in the senate 8 Dems chose the break the filibuster, but only one was calling for it somewhat from the beginning.
So this basically tells us that this shutdown was a political tool used for the purpose of swaying voters in the recent elections.
But all but 8 just wanted to keep citizens and the government hostage with a shutdown.
