I gave these free and private maps apps a second look and was not disappointed

I thought some of these apps weren't all that good, but it was just me living in a deadzone. They are very capable if you live in a densely data-rich city. I also found work arounds for my situation to make things work. Anyway, yes osmand+, CoMaps and even Organic Maps are way better than I gave them credit for when it comes to navigation. I still need to try out the hiking bits.
