Dear Mr. Gibson, I am writing you in hopes of convincing you to check out the 1950 film The Black Rose, and more importantly, read the book it is based on. A free copy of the movie is on YouTube.

PLEASE remake this movie. And maybe cast Jim Caviezel as Tyrone Power's replacement.

I strongly think the story would be up your alley.
All I ask is that you make this remake much more faithfully to the novel.

The movie is mildly entertaining in it's own right, but for anyone who fell in love with the book, like my father, the movie's changes were outright insulting. The book made him weep, but the movie removed the heartfelt spots, which destroyed it for him. Masterpiece book, mediocre movie.

As someone who didn't read the book, and only know certain parts of it, I must say that the casting for the main girl was HORRIBLE.

The girl was supposed to be BEAUTIFUL and lovable. The movie made her ugly and extremely cringe and insufferable. And her behavior towards the hero would have gotten her crucified by the audience if the genders were reversed.

She is called “The Black Rose” because she has long black hair, but the movie made her into a blonde. Please don't do that. Please cast someone who matches the book description.

I plea with you to watch the movie and get back to me with your opinion.

Humbly yours,
Rick O'Shay

P.S., please tell Jim Caviezel that Outlander was a criminally underrated film. I loved him in it.
