The Spirit of Fire - Metaphorical & Symbolic Fire

If you didn’t know, the majority of Christian pastors and teachers believe that the Lake of Fire in the book of Revelation is a literal, eternal, flesh-burning fire, a place of endless torture. You’ve probably heard this interpretation in books, memes, sermon graphics, street evangelism, or even picket signs, all echoing the same fearful slogan, “Turn or burn!”

But are they right? And where did they get this from? Where did the idea that a loving Father would burn and torture the vast majority of His creation for finite crimes in an infinite literal burning fire come from?
