Philippians 2:1-16

This week we begin with a biblical definition of consolation from Jeremiah 16, and continue with a discussion of strife and vainglory, and the idea that we should be doing something with the salvation God has given us.

We look at the humility and charity of Christ's incarnation and passion, and our opportunity to obey love, not with a false religious piety in the flesh, but in charity without regard to sin or the law.

We answer what "the end of the commandment" is in I Tim 1:5, consider lowliness and study what it meant for Jesus to be equal with God, yet not think it robbery, (especially in regard to satan's view of himself).

We go through verses 5-8 in depth regarding the Christ setting aside his reputation, taking on himself the form of a servant, being found in fashion as a man, and then being accused of sin by the father and sentenced to death.

We also cover the resurrection of the Son of Man and how that changed and exalted his reputation, how Paul uses two titles for the Lord, "Jesus Christ" & "Christ Jesus", and how they are evidence for the divine authorship of the Bible, (whether in the original autographs, or in the Bible we have in English today.

We review what it might mean to be one of the "things under the earth" when every knee bows and every tongue confesses Jesus Christ is Lord, what "working out your own salvation" means, and how "doing all things without murmuring or disputings" is one of the harder commandments to follow, but how it's possible with the mind of Christ.
