Earth to be blasted by record-breaking solar storm

The Earth looks set to be hit by the biggest solar storm in 20 years.

The British Geological Survey has upgraded its forecast to the maximum level and has warned that communications and satellite navigation could be affected.

But on the plus side, the UK could see a dazzling Northern Lights show on Wednesday night if the skies are clear.
