Jeremiah 38: A slave speaks truth to power!

We explore the courage of Ebed-melech, the slave from a foreign land who spoke truth to the king of Jerusalem. We will also discuss the culture, shedding new light on the perspective of those who first heard the parable of "The Good Samaritan".

We reference: Genesis 37, Genesis 4, Luke 10, and Matthew 27.

Notes:
The Three Babylonian Exiles
1st Exile:
Judah becomes a vassal of Babylon. Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego are taken to Babylon.
605BC 2 Kings 24:1; Daniel 1:1-6

2nd Exile:
Nebuchadnezzar invades Judah and captures King Jehoachin and takes him to Babylon (2 Kings 24:15) along with many others including Ezekiel (Ezekiel 1:1-2). Then he changes the name of “Mattaniah”, son of Josiah, to “Zedekiah” and installs him as a puppet king (2 Kings 24:17).
