R. M. Lassiter, witness for the State, at the Trial of Leo Frank in the Fulton County Superior Court of Atlanta, Georgia, in 1913 (Testimony Portion From July 28 - August 21, 1913; Closing Arguments August 21-25, 1913)
City policeman R. M. Lassiter arrived at the National Pencil Company Sunday morning, April 27.
Findings (6:00–7:00 a.m.)

Parasol: Center of elevator shaft—unbroken.
Rope twine + wrapping cord.
Stool-like substance.

Observations

Drag marks from elevator in basement.
Rear door closed at midnight.
Elevator bottom: Trash pile—no cement; hits ground “plump.”

Cross-examination

Parasol intact—no crush.
Shaft full of trash.

Lassiter’s unbroken parasol, drag marks, and trash-cushioned shaft shredded Conley’s “elevator crash”.
No cement, no thud, no damage—State’s “body-drop” became gentle disposal.
