The Centaur-class starship is a Starfleet vessel from Star Trek, known for being created by kitbashing parts from Excelsior-class and Miranda-class starships to be a fast, relatively inexpensive medium cruiser for the Dominion War. Key features include a saucer section similar to the Excelsior but smaller, an underslung secondary hull with a distinctive weapons pod (or later, a standard deflector dish), and a forward-facing shuttle bay. It was initially designed for patrol and crisis response but was heavily modified for combat during the war, serving as a frontline deterrent.
