Shenmue II follows Ryo Hazuki as he travels to Hong Kong and then Guilin, China, in pursuit of his father's killer, Lan Di. He seeks a martial arts master named Lishao Tao (whose real name is Xiuying Hong) and eventually meets allies like the gang leader Ren, the motorcyclist Joy, and the street boy Wong. The group works together to uncover Lan Di's connection to the criminal Chi You Men organization and the mystery of the two ancient mirrors, a Phoenix Mirror and a Dragon Mirror. Ultimately, Ryo learns the mirrors are key to the resurrection of the Qing Dynasty and continues his journey to Bailu village in Guilin to confront Lan Di
