George W. Jefferson, witness for the State, at the Trial of Leo Frank in the Fulton County Superior Court of Atlanta, Georgia, in 1913 (Testimony Portion From July 28 - August 21, 1913; Closing Arguments August 21-25, 1913)
Polishing-room worker George W. Jefferson (5 years) testified:
Monday, April 28

With Barrett: Spots near girls’ dressing room—fan-sized, dark red, white haskoline over.
Not there Friday.
Cords: Hung on post, looped knots—match murder cord.

Cross-examination

Floor: Greasy, dirty—no red except polishing room.
Paints: Maroon, red line, bright red—none match spots.
White haskoline: Didn’t hide red—visible.

Re-direct

Paint: Only polishing room & third floor—bottled.

Jefferson’s “not Friday”, “no paint match”, and “looped cords” gutted Barrett’s “fresh blood”.
5-year worker’s eye turned State’s “smoking gun” into routine factory mess.
