Harry Scott, witness for the State (re-called), at the Trial of Leo Frank in the Fulton County Superior Court of Atlanta, Georgia, in 1913 (Testimony Portion From July 28 - August 21, 1913; Closing Arguments August 21-25, 1913)
Pinkerton Superintendent Harry Scott, hired by Frank, testified:
Monday, April 28

Frank: Cooperative, detailed timeline—8:00 a.m. arrival, Montag’s, Phagan 12:10, Mrs. White, Gantt-Lee encounter.
Nervousness: Deep sighs, pale, piercing eyes—no tremor.

Tuesday, April 29

11:30 a.m.: Arrested Frank—hands quivering, pale.
Lee-Frank interview: Frank “squirmy”, crossed legs, swallowed hard—“They’ve got me too.”

Conley interrogations

May 18: Denied factory visit; wrote “tall black negro” in 6–7 minutes.
May 24–29: 4 statements—coached to “fit facts”, drop premeditation.
Never mentioned: Stover, scream, tiptoes, cord, $200, “Brooklyn kin”.

Cross-examination

Haas: Wanted reports first—Scott refused.
Oversights: Gantt-Phagan “intimacy”, “1:00 vs 1:10”—“mistakes”.
No blood, ribbon, purse, club found.

Scott’s “cooperative Frank”, “coached Conley”, and “missing evidence” gutted the State’s case.
Pinkerton’s own hire turned prosecution’s “star detective” into defense dynamite.
THE STATE RESTS.
