After we have watched and discussed Superman (2025) we will then watched the extended version of the 1978 Richard Donner film, Superman: The Movie starring Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent/Superman.

Superman (2025) David Corenswet stars alongside Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor: , Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt / Mister Terrific:, Anthony Carriganas Rex Mason / Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as as Guy Gardner / Green Lantern, and Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl in a plot written and directed by James Gunn.

In the film, Superman faces unintended consequences after he intervenes in an international conflict orchestrated by billionaire Lex Luthor (Hoult). Superman must win back public support with the help of his reporter and superhero colleagues. The film was produced by Gunn and Peter Safran of DC Studios.

Superman:The Movie (1978) Superman: The Movie is a 1978 superhero film based on the DC Comics character, played by Christopher Reeve. It is the first of four installments in the Superman film series starring Reeve as Superman. The film was directed by Richard Donner and written by Mario Puzo, David Newman, Leslie Newman, and Robert Benton. The film features an ensemble cast including Marlon Brando as Jor-El, Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor, Ned Beatty as Otis, Jackie Cooper as Perry White, Glenn Ford as Jonathan Kent, Trevor Howard as the First Elder with Margot Kidder as Lois Lane, Valerie Perrine as Eve Teschmacher:, Terence Stamp as General Zod, Phyllis Thaxter, and Susannah York.

It depicts the origin of Superman, including his infancy as Kal-El of Krypton, son of Jor-El (Brando), and his youthful years in the rural town of Smallville. Disguised as reporter Clark Kent, he adopts a mild-mannered disposition in Metropolis and develops a romance with Lois Lane (Kidder) while battling the villainous Lex Luthor.
