Volusia County, FL - A man who spent two days hiding in a swamp after fleeing from Florida deputies in a stolen truck was found safe, authorities said.

Earl Dorey, 37, initially fled from deputies on Wednesday after he was spotted in the stolen truck, Volusia County Sheriff's Office officials said.

The truck ran over stop sticks and was later found abandoned near DeLeon Springs State Park.

Dorey and two other people fled the truck on foot, with Dorey running into a nearby swamp, officials said.

The two other people were quickly taken into custody.

Body camera footage released by the sheriff's office showed a deputy with a K-9 going into the swamp after Dorey.

At one point, Dorey pointed a gun at deputies and threatened to kill himself, authorities said.

Dorey went further into the swamp and wasn't found until Friday, the sheriff's office said.

Officials said his only complaint was that he was thirsty, and his legs hurt after his "extended stay" in the swamp.

Dorey, who already had warrants out, is facing charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, fleeing from law enforcement, and possession of methamphetamine.
