Today President Trump announced on Truth Social that he has directed Attorney General Pam Bondi to open a full federal investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s connections with Bill Clinton, Larry Summers, Reid Hoffman, and JPMorgan Chase. Bondi confirmed that Manhattan U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton has been assigned to lead the probe. Trump issued this directive after thousands of Epstein related emails and documents were released, some of which referenced Trump. He said the investigation would focus on what he describes as long standing ties between Epstein, Democratic political figures, and major financial institutions.

At the same time a major immigration ruling came out of Illinois. On November fourteen U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Cummings ordered the release of hundreds of migrants detained at the Broadview ICE facility as part of the ongoing class action case Margarito Castanon Nava v DHS. The judge ruled that DHS and ICE violated an existing consent decree that limited warrantless arrests in the Chicago area. The order required the immediate release of thirteen people whose arrests were directly found to be unlawful and the release of about six hundred fifteen more on bond and enrollment in the ICE Alternatives to Detention program by November twenty one. DHS was also ordered to review roughly three thousand arrests made under Operation Midway Blitz from June to October.

The ACLU of Illinois and the National Immigrant Justice Center said most arrests were unlawful and included workers, parents, and people with no mandatory detention requirements. DHS strongly opposed the ruling and said it puts public safety at risk. Officials called the ruling judicial overreach and requested a stay until November twenty one. DHS argued that many detainees had criminal histories while plaintiffs said most cases were non violent.

This issue gained more public attention after a video from Chicago West Town showed U.S. citizen Dayanne Figueroa confronting ICE agents during an arrest of migrants who had rammed an ICE vehicle, injuring two agents. In the video agents said one suspect was a previously deported pedophile. Figueroa disputed the arrest and was detained briefly after her car struck an ICE vehicle.
