DESCRIPTION:

The Black 14's story is a powerful testament to courage, resilience, and the enduring fight for justice. In 1969, fourteen Black student-athletes from the University of Wyoming football team took a stand against racial discrimination.

These young men, whose team had a winning record and was nationally ranked, were unfairly dismissed for simply asking to wear black armbands in a peaceful protest during an upcoming game. They sought to stand in solidarity with the Black Students' Alliance, advocating against discriminatory practices that restricted opportunities for African Americans.

Their dismissal sent shockwaves nationwide, sparking a debate over civil rights in sports and igniting conversations about racial justice that are still relevant today. Their bravery led to lasting change – within a year, their opponent added its first Black player, and nine years later, the policy they protested was overturned.

Today, the Black 14 Foundation works to honor this legacy by advancing social justice, supporting education, and empowering young people to stand up for what is right. Your support can help us continue their mission, ensuring that their story not only lives on but also inspires future generations to create a fairer, more inclusive world.

The truth always wins.
