Greene: “Trump’s Attacks Stem from Epstein File Pressure”
WASHINGTON, November 17, 2025 — In an unprecedented political rift, President Donald Trump has publicly withdrawn his endorsement of Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, calling her “wacky,” “a ranting lunatic,” “a RINO,” and “a traitor.” The break comes just days before the House is set to vote on releasing the Jeffrey Epstein files, which Greene claims is the real reason for Trump’s sudden turn.
Speaking exclusively to CNN’s Dana Bash, Greene pushed back, saying, “I stood with President Trump when virtually no one else did. I campaigned all over the country, spent millions of my own money helping him get elected. His remarks have been hurtful, but I’m focused on ending the toxic fighting in politics.”
Greene suggested that her push for transparency on Epstein’s client list caused the rupture. “Unfortunately, it has all come down to the Epstein files,” she said. “I will not apologize for standing with the victims and demanding the files be released. I don’t believe rich, powerful people should be protected if they’ve done anything wrong.”
The Georgia congresswoman also refuted Trump’s claim that her criticism stemmed from his alleged attempts to dissuade her from running for Senate or governor. “That’s absolutely untrue,” she said, noting that no such conversations ever occurred. “White House logs and his own phone records would prove it.”
Pressed by Bash, Greene clarified that she has “no evidence” implicating Trump in the Epstein documents, citing testimony from key accusers, including Virginia Giuffre, who said under oath that Trump “did nothing wrong.”
Still, Greene hinted that unseen forces may be pressuring Trump. “I simply asked if a foreign government was pushing to keep this covered up,” she said, referencing her post linking Epstein’s ties to Israeli ex-Prime Minister Ehud Barak and lobby group AIPAC.
Greene also used the interview to express regret for contributing to past political hostility. “I’m sorry for taking part in the toxic conversation,” she said. “Especially after Charlie Kirk was assassinated, I’ve realized we need to put down the knives in politics.”
Despite Trump’s attacks, Greene said she remains committed to the MAGA agenda: “What Americans voted for was to put America first—lower the cost of living, stop foreign wars, and focus on the people here at home. I hope the president can refocus on that. Even if he’s attacking me, I want him to succeed for the American people.”
