SILENCING DISSENT IN AMERICA

British journalist and renowned political commentator Sami Hamdi came to the United States to speak, not to conspire. But within days of landing in San Francisco, his visa was suddenly revoked and he was detained by ICE. The official reason: immigration and support of terrorism. The real reason: his criticism of Israel.

Hamdi has long been an outspoken critic of Israel’s geno**** on Gaza and the Western powers that enable it. His speeches and commentaries went viral—then far-right influencers, including Trump ally Laura Loomer, launched a smear campaign accusing him of “supporting terrorism.” The U.S. Department of Homeland Security reposted one of those edited clips and cancelled his visa without warning.

He was held in ICE custody for more than two weeks—without charge, without trial, without evidence. Civil-rights lawyers said it was retaliation for speech, a clear attempt to silence a Muslim journalist who dared to call out empire. His wife called it an abduction. The documents filed against him mentioned no crime, no threat, only a technical overstay caused by the government’s own decision to revoke his visa.

On November 10, after mounting public pressure, the U.S. agreed to release him. He will return home, but the message remains chilling. When a journalist can be detained for his ideas, no voice is safe.

And these masked-up officers they call ICE—this goes far beyond immigration. They’re harassing civilians, jailing people without trial, enforcing one man’s ideology through fear. This is not border control; this is authoritarianism 101—a system built to protect power, not people.

This is about more than one detention. It’s about the colonization of truth itself.
