End of an Era Calls For Holiness

As the church year ends, readings focus on the end of the world, using past events like the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD as prefigurations. While wars, famines, and natural disasters have always existed, the absence of significant celestial signs, like those witnessed in Jerusalem, suggests the end of an era rather than the world’s end. Recent sightings of the Northern Lights, even in southern regions, evoke memories of past prophetic signs.

The northern lights, a rare occurrence, were seen as far south as Mexico, prompting reflection on signs of the times. Fr. Altier emphasizes the importance of spiritual preparedness, urging people to be in a state of grace, maintain a strong prayer life, and strive for holiness.

The year 2033 may mark the 2000th anniversary of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is important to be spiritually prepared, as the exact timing is unknown.
