‘Metroid Prime 4: Beyond’ - Performance Specs And New Gameplay Elements Revealed - Overview Trailer

Nintendo has released yet another trailer for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond about two weeks from release. They spend the first half of the trailer talking about very basic features any Metroid Prime fan already knows about Metroid Prime 4: it’s a first-person adventure in which Samus can jump and roll into a ball, Samus is a bounty-hunter and Sylux is her rival, Samus can scan her environment and can shoot enemies with her Power Beam, etc.

Samus’ new abilities in Beyond seem to revolve around psychic abilities and a Psychic Glove she obtains that allows her to manipulate objects with her mind, which could open up some interesting gameplay possibilities. We also see a shot of Samus using something that resembles a grappling hook that allows her to stick to walls, similar to what Link uses in some Legend of Zelda games.

Samus won’t be completely alone on this mission, as she’ll have Federation soldiers to assist, who will also assist her in combat. Some voice-acting and dialog is in this trailer, with one soldier experessing his desire to see his family.

We also find out that Samus’ slick new motorcycle, the Vi-o-La, will allow her to fight enemies in Sol Valley, but is also summonable in certain areas outside the desert. Again, this could open up new gameplay elements we haven’t seen in the series yet.

The Switch 2 version of Beyond performance features:

Quality Mode – 4K/60 FPS with HDR (handheld: 1080p/60 FPS HDR)
Performance Mode – 1080p/120 FPS with HDR (handheld: 720p/120 FPS HDR)
Also, the Switch 2 Joy-Con can be used in a mouse/keyboard control configuration as well.

Only a few more weeks to wait.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond releases for Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 on December 4, 2025.
