LAPD: Man On Skateboard Struck And Killed By LAPD Vehicle in Highland Park Area

On September 19, 2025, Gerardo "Jerry" Estrada, a 30-year-old man, was struck and killed while riding his skateboard. He was riding in the median in the middle of Figueroa Street, around 7 p.m. At the same time, an LAPD patrol vehicle with its lights and sirens on was heading northbound, also in the median as it passed traffic on the busy road. Officers were responding to a call for backup for a parolee at large and had their lights on and flashing at the time of the crash.
