IS RACISM REAL

Some people argue that “racism doesn’t mean much anymore” because everyone holds biases, even if they’re small or unconscious. From this perspective, humans naturally form in-groups and out-groups, so judging others based on culture, appearance, or stereotypes becomes almost universal. Because these everyday biases are so common, the word racism starts to feel too broad—used for both mild prejudice and serious hatred. As a result, the term loses clarity and impact. People who think this way believe society should focus on behaviour and intent rather than using one word to describe everything.
