Finally finished collecting more orchids for Algernon, but the flowers for Algernon were just not enough. The Contessa he was in love with has married someone else. A postman. Well, between a hat maker and a postman, I am just not sure if either is better, but love and the heart want what they want. Not for me to judge. Mary wanted me and I wanted her, but life just did not turn out that way. Definitely better for Mary in the end.
Algernon wanted me to kill him or else he would do it himself. I took away his gun. Love can build a man up and also kill a man. We saw what love did to Molly. Molly had the love for Dutch, but Dutch just could not return it. Love is such a complicated beast and no one comes out unscathed.
Algernon did end up making me a new hat and this one was so much better than the last one. I actually like this one.
I left Algernon with his broken heart and his shattered thoughts, while I think back about my own life and love and how in the end that love was just not enough.
