Gun range deer are different

Today at the gun range I installed a new scope on my Marlin model 336, chambered in 30-30. I started at 50 yards, moved it out to 100 yards with a goal of 2.8 inches high at 100. That should be a 165 yard zero with the point of impact around 3.8 inches low at 200 yards. (170 gr flat nose at 2200 fps.)After 100 yards I pushed out to the 200 yard, 6 inch gong. I hit the gong 3 out of 3 times walked out to retrieve my targets and say hi to the range deer. I fired 24 rounds in total and the range deer had not a care in the world.
