Pope Leo XIV calls for dignified treatment of immigrants

Pope Leo XIV recently backed the statement issued by U.S. bishops regarding the deportation and detention of immigrants, calling it “very important.” However, his message comes at a time when the country is facing the consequences of years of permissive policies and practically open borders, which have led to a significant increase in insecurity and criminal activity in various cities. Although not all immigrants are involved in these issues — in fact, many live honorable lives and contribute to their communities — the lack of border control has allowed dangerous individuals, gangs, and trafficking networks to enter, affecting thousands of Americans today.
