Let me be clear: the council workers aren’t the problem. They’re just doing what they’re told. The real issue is the ideological mindset inside local authorities that now seem to view British symbols as offensive, threatening or somehow inappropriate. I compare this bizarre national embarrassment with places like America and Gibraltar, where you see flags flying proudly from every window, and I ask the obvious question: what on earth has gone wrong in Britain that we now take down our own flag?
