On Monday, September 14th, 2015, 16-year-old Nolen Buchanan was living his dream, having just inherited his family's construction business. However, by October 1st, he was arrested and later found guilty of murdering his father, stepmother, and half-brother, before setting their cabin on fire to cover up the crime.

Initially, the deaths were thought to be accidental due to a wildfire, but evidence of gunshot wounds on the victims revealed it was a homicide. Nolen's behavior and inconsistent stories drew suspicion. Surveillance footage, financial records, and forensic evidence further implicated him. Nolen had used his father's credit card and been seen on camera returning from the crime scene.

Nolen claimed self-defense, saying his father had attacked the family, but forensic evidence disproved his account. After a trial, Nolen was sentenced to 150 years in prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years. He continues to maintain his innocence.
