Born on July 4, 1958, in Fort Payne, Alabama, Sheila was the youngest of three children. Her childhood was marked by severe abuse from her alcoholic father, Manuel Bailey, who not only physically abused his family but also sexually abused his daughters. Despite this, Sheila was an ambitious and creative child who dreamed of a different life.

As an adult, Sheila's relationships were tumultuous and often ended in violence. Her first marriage ended when her husband discovered she was abusing his daughter. Her second marriage lasted over three years but ended after Sheila, following a drug and alcohol-fueled crash, spent months in a psychiatric hospital.

Sheila later moved in with Wilfred "Bill" LaBar, a wealthy chiropractor, and although they never married, she took his last name. She began to control his finances and property, and after his death in 2000, she inherited his estate. Sheila then transformed the ranch into a place of seduction and manipulation, preying on vulnerable men, often homeless or addicted.

Two of her known victims were Michael Delorge and Kenny County. Michael, a homeless man addicted to drugs, was brutally beaten and humiliated by Sheila until his disappearance in 2005. Kenny, a young man with a low IQ, was manipulated into moving in with Sheila, who then subjected him to severe abuse. His disappearance in 2006 led to the police discovering human remains and evidence of torture on Sheila's property.

Sheila was arrested in 2006 after a nationwide search. She was found guilty in 2008 and sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. Her case remains a chilling example of how early trauma and mental illness can contribute to a life of unimaginable cruelty.
