Midknight Expressions Ep18
Hello my Knight's and Knightie's. Welcome to episode 18 of Midknight Expressions.
This week's video release is the bio of my second release form, Spell's and Spirit's. This emotionally powerful song is titled, Rain and the Storm I Bring. It is dedicated to my beloved friends who I have lost yet still hold dear. They are my former familiars. My dearest animal companions. By name in order are Brandy, Rain, Dragon, and Magic. I love you all, this song is for you.
This week I have completed the Bio of Fire Dancers and have started on the A-Cappella version. More on these as we go
Our review this week is one of my favorites. One that I revisit often. We have a book vs movie, The Count of Monte Crisco.
The Count of Monte Cristo (French: Le Comte de Monte-Cristo) is an adventure novel by the French writer Alexandre Dumas. It was serialised from 1844 to 1846, then published in book form in 1846. It is one of his most popular works, along with The Three Musketeers (1844) and Man in the Iron Mask (1850). Like many of his novels, it was expanded from plot outlines suggested by his collaborating ghostwriter, Auguste Maquet.[1] It is regarded as a classic of French and world literature.[2]
The Count of Monte Cristo is a 2002 historical adventure film, which is an adaptation of the 1844 novel of the same name by Alexandre Dumas, produced by Roger Birnbaum, Gary Barber, and Jonathan Glickman, and directed by Kevin Reynolds. The film stars Jim Caviezel, Guy Pearce, Richard Harris, James Frain, Dagmara Dominczyk, Luis Guzmán and Henry Cavill. See wickapeda for more in-depth knowledge on both.
This is an absolutely epic story. Filled with romance, betrayal, treasure, and vengeance.
As happens for the sake of the medium the movie, although enjoyable, is lacking in comparison to the book.
Losing many dramatic and important scenes. Several charters are barely even acknowledged. While others are completely ignored.
While the movie is definitely based on the book. There are many inaccuracies in its rewrite. To name a few, the relationship between Fernand and Edmond, they were never childhood friends. Alber was not Edmond's legitimate child. Mercedes and Edmond did not rekindle their love and relationship in the end of the book. There is no mention of Ieaday, the Greek slave the count of Monte Crisco, or even Luigi Vampa
In essence the move is ok as entertainment. However, it lacks the impactful depth of the original book.
When I say romance, this book is not about a love story between two people. Yes that exists. It is a story of love between a verity of people. Love of parents and children. Selfish self-love, love of titles and possession, love of lies that kill and destroy, love of friends, and love of God, life and liberty.
Betrayal of all kinds. Broken promises, to oneself and others. Murder, hatred, petty dispute. The greatest betrayal to have a happy Innocent man imprisoned by four disreputable people.
Treasure and wealth is abundant. Yes, the hidden treasure of Sparta. That catapults Edmond from poverty to the wealth of ancient Kings. Also the treasurer of fine living. Of valued companies and the treasure of true adoration.
Vengeance was the most profound, 10 years in the working, once Edmond tasted freedom and found his wealth. All in his path became chess pieces as he manipulated those who wronged him. Empowered with immense wealth and a superior intellect. Edmond became a venting angel in the form of The Count of Monte Crisco.
Using the greedy, selfish and petty nature of those who wronged Edmond. He drove one to madness. Another to suicide, one to a horrific death for his life of crime. The last one was broken , wanted by the law without a friend or family. All with a terrible cost of the death of a wicked but innocent boy.
In essence the book is very much worth a read or listen. The audio book narrated by Bill Homewood is very well done. Thank you for bringing this story to life for my dyslexic ass. I may not be a great reader. I am a profound listener.
As always I welcome any open discussion on there or any other topics. Feel free to contact me to schedule a live conversation.
