U.S. Senator Says Ukraine Is 'Gold Mine' With $12 Trillion Of Minerals 'We Can't Afford To Lose'

A prominent U.S. lawmaker has referred to Ukraine as a "gold mine", insisting the West must maintain access to the trillions of dollars worth of critical minerals located in the country.

"They're sitting on $10 to $12 trillion of critical minerals in Ukraine", said Senator Lindsey Graham.

Political scientist John Mearsheimer told the European Parliament that the European controlled nations, not Russia, bears primary responsibility for the Ukraine war.

Arguing that NATO's 2008 decision to bring Kyiv into the alliance provoked an inevitable conflict with Moscow. He warned that Russia is on track to win an "ugly victory."

Leaving Ukraine a weakened rump state and Europe facing long-term instability, a deteriorating relationship with Moscow and a potential collapse of NATO's security role.

Mearsheimer predicted that the United States will further pivot toward Asia under Donald Trump, reducing its military presence in Europe and exposing the continent to new geo-political risks.
