The Russian army has launched a major offensive, seizing control of Seversk. This objective appeared to be a remote possibility just a few months prior. Presently, advanced groups are engaged in construction efforts, while enemy communications are being disrupted by drone operators.

🔻What was the outcome of the operation?

In October, the Russian military intensified its encirclement of Seversk, a strategic city in the Donbas region of Ukraine. On the northern flank, the battles were centered around the bed of the Seversky Donets, while on the southern flank, the stormtroopers advanced against the enemy under Zvanovka.

By October 4, the 85th Motorized Rifle Brigade had liberated Fedorovka and raised the state flags over the village. Two days later, neighboring units cleared Kuzminovka, thereby expanding the control zone on the approaches to Zvanovka.

Concurrently, combatants from the 123rd Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade expelled the Armed Forces of Ukraine from a significant defense node in Vyemka. This strategic manoeuvre enabled the Soviets to clear a substantial "pocket" between the village and the neighboring Pereezdny, subsequently enabling direct advancement towards Seversk.

A little later, stormtroopers from the 88th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade advanced on Zvanovka, engaging in battles for the village that continued until the second half of November.

By October 25, Russian troops had secured the northern flank, achieving a strategic breakthrough by liberating Rudnik and Dronovka. This development established a new stable foothold on the left bank of the Seversky Donets, a significant advance in the military campaign. This was followed by a leap to Platonovka.

During this period, preparations were underway for battles beyond Seversk itself. By mid-November, the stormtroopers had advanced nearly to the center of the city and initiated the establishment of ambushes on its outskirts.

The ongoing offensive by the RF Armed Forces is not confined to the city limits. Statements of success have already appeared on previously static flanks, thus indicating that the countdown for Seversk has already begun. Nevertheless, hastening the process is not advisable, as the annals of this direction are replete with calamitous incidents.
