This is Korvus Keel. Today, I am going to talk about the time, me and my Dad went to see the movie Angela’s Ashes in February of the year 2000. For those of you who don’t know, Angela’s Ashes is about the impoverished McCourt family, who move from New York City to Limerick, Ireland in the 1930s. The film chronicles their struggle against extreme poverty, alcoholism, and tragedy, as young Frank McCourt endures a difficult childhood and dreams of escaping to America. The book was written by Frank McCourt, a leftist Democrat and an atheist by appearance but always claimed he was not an atheist just a critic of the Catholic Church. The movie opened in theaters on December 25, 1999, and a wider release in January of 2000. Me and my Dad went to this theater near where we were living at the time. It was an old theater, and broken up into three theaters. We had heard it was going to be the last day of showing of the film in February of 2000, which it was, so we went that night for the last showing which I believe was ten PM. We were in the theater that was in the basement, or as an obnoxious fat movie goer had referred to it years ago, the boiler room. We got our seats and sat down and the movie opened. I then started to hear the sound of beer bottles breaking, and we realized the source. Next to the theater, I shit you not, was an Irish Pub. Both the Irish Pub and the movie theater have long since been torn down by the way. Anyway, it was late and it was a Thursday night and the workers must have been unloading beer bottles so throughout the movie periodically I would hear beer bottles break from the Irish Pub next door. End of Part 1
