FINDING JANET

This 1970s Canadian educational film follows a young woman’s quiet journey toward confidence and independence. Finding Janet, captures that universal classroom-film theme of self-discovery — a student learning to speak up, think critically, and find her own “voice” in society. The film reflects the tone of its era: equal parts guidance lesson, social commentary, and cultural snapshot of life in post-industrial Canada.

Restoration Notes:
This print came to us like so many school-circulation films — scratched, spliced, and warped from decades of rough use. Projector gates chewed the edges, the sound stripes were patchy, and labels were scrawled by generations of “A/V boys” and hurried teachers who barely threaded machines between bells. Through digital cleaning, color balancing, and sound repair, we’ve brought Finding Janet back to life while preserving every bit of its classroom authenticity.
