The gospel doesn't just have benefits laid up for some future time when we die. The benefits are for now. Today. Interestingly, when asked by John the Baptist to prove His divinity, Jesus gives John a string of proofs. The blind see, the deaf hear, the lepers are cleansed, etc. And at the very end he says something curious. "the poor have the gospel preached to them." What does the gospel have to do with the poor? That's a great question, and one that we intend to explore today in this message.
