Common Distractions Chiropractors Fall For (And Why They Don’t Work) - Full Chiropractic Podcast
In this episode of the Rocket Chiro Podcast, Jerry talks about the distractions that pull chiropractors away from the fundamentals they actually need to fix. These distractions feel exciting and promising, especially when a chiropractor is struggling, overwhelmed, or desperate for traction. But most of the time, they do nothing but drain time, money, and momentum. The episode encourages chiropractors to recognize these traps, understand why they are so appealing, and shift their focus back to the simple habits that truly create long term success.
Jerry explains that becoming a successful chiropractor is difficult and rarely happens through shortcuts or secret strategies. When the foundational pieces of a practice are missing, chiropractors naturally look for something easier than improving their communication, retention, onboarding, or consistency. This is the perfect setup for shiny objects to creep in and become full blown distractions.
The conversation walks through six major categories of distractions that chiropractors commonly fall for. The episode makes it clear that while some of these things can work for a small number of people, most chiropractors experience them only as time sinks that push them further away from real stability.
• Online sales and affiliate marketing
Many chiropractors are told they can make extra money online with product links, supplement recommendations, or digital courses. Jerry explains why most chiropractors do not have the audience size, trust, or reach for this to be meaningful. It becomes a distraction from what really moves the needle, which is improving their practice, connecting locally, and helping patients.
• Selling big ticket coaching or expertise
Online gurus often promote high ticket coaching programs as the path to financial freedom. Chiropractors start believing that they can easily sell expensive coaching packages or special programs. Jerry clarifies that coaching is an entirely separate business model and not something most chiropractors are equipped to build. It pulls attention away from the practice they should be improving.
• Chasing special techniques and certifications
Many chiropractors believe success is one seminar away. While continuing education is valuable, it is rarely the reason a practice is stuck. Technique does not fix problems related to communication, retention, systems, or marketing. Improving as a chiropractor is great, but expecting a certification to transform a practice usually leads to disappointment.
• Buying expensive equipment and passive therapies
There is always new equipment being sold as the key to higher revenue. Chiropractors convince themselves that one more machine will finally change everything. Jerry explains that equipment does not fix a weak foundation and often increases financial pressure. It should complement a strong practice, not try to rescue a struggling one.
• Obsessing over social media and trying to go viral
Some chiropractors spend more time creating content than treating patients. Social media feels productive, but viral posts rarely translate to meaningful income for a local service business. Social media works best as a trust-building tool, not a replacement for real practice growth.
• Judging success only by new patient numbers
Many chiropractors obsess over new patient counts and ignore the rest of their business. A struggling practice usually has problems with retention, communication, follow through, or patient experience. When chiropractors focus only on new patients, they overlook the deeper issues that actually determine long term success.
Throughout the episode, Jerry emphasizes that success comes from doing simple things consistently. Most chiropractors will not become outliers. Most do not need shortcuts. What they need is a year of consistent fundamentals. Habits, systems, onboarding, communication, reviews, retention, and local visibility matter more than any trendy program or new gadget.
