The dead do not rest quietly. As the battle on the black river reaches a breaking point, Team Gamma is forced to gamble everything on desperate plans and dangerous magic. Doug clings to a black-flame knight suspended above the water, Rico tries to turn the creature’s own weapon against it, and Smole takes arrow after arrow to keep the others standing.

Tessa reaches for the voices beneath the surface, channeling a white-hot burst of power that turns a sunken funeral ship into a burning pyre, while Ryan tests the limits of a blade that seems just a little too eager to draw blood. Between haunted boats, freezing water, and a foe that refuses to fall, the crew must decide how far they are willing to go to free the forgotten dead. On this river, mercy and survival do not always point in the same direction.
