Riding with The Original Grey Beard Biker™ - Cherohala Skyway

There is nothing like riding in the Smoky and Blue Ridge Mountains in the summer. This is a ride along the Cherohala Skyway - which connects the Smoky Mountains to the Blue Ridge - both of which are part of the larger Appalachian Mountains chain. If you are riding in this area, beware of the periodic rain squalls, they seem to happen daily. There are three passes, other than I-40, which connect Tennessee to North Carolina: in the north there is New Found Gap Road, in the middle is the famous Tail of the Dragon/US Hwy 129 and further south is the Cherohala Skyway. I prefer the first or last. Once you’ve ridden the Tail of the Dragon a few times, you’ve seen it all. And the wannabe racers out there can kill you. Enjoy this scenic ride. Recorded on July 4, 2025.
