When 25,000 African Women Fought the British Tax Man #History #Africa

In 1929 more than 25,000 African women in southeastern Nigeria rose up against British colonial rule. The Aba Women’s War wasn’t a “small riot” — it was a full-scale, women-led anti-colonial uprising against new taxes, corrupt warrant chiefs, and a system built to silence Black women. Tonight at 10 PM EST we break down how these sisters tore down Native Courts, cut telegraph lines, freed prisoners, and forced the British to change their system — with facts, not fairy tales.

We’re exposing: Who were these women? What triggered the revolt? Why did British troops open fire on unarmed protesters? And what lessons should the Alkebulan Kidnapped take from their courage in 2024?
