EPISODE NOTE: THE GAO SHUXUN MOVEMENT:

On October 30th, 1945, Gao Shuxun, the Deputy Commander of the KMT's Eleventh War Zone and Commander of the New Eighth Army, led an uprising of over 10,000 troops. This event had a significant impact nationwide. To further divide and disintegrate the KMT and win over Nationalist soldiers, the CPC Central Committee decided to launch a propaganda campaign, calling on officers and soldiers within the KMT to follow the example of Gao Shuxun's troops, refuse to attack liberated areas, engage in passive resistance on the civil war battlefield, fraternize with the People's Liberation Army, stage uprisings, and stand on the side of the people. This campaign was called the "Gao Shuxun Movement."
