ILHAN OMAR SNAPS IN UNHINGED RANT As Millions In Taxpayer Fraud Is Exposed

Ilhan Omar sharply criticized Donald Trump for what she calls a fundamental misunderstanding of the law governing Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Somalis. Trump’s announcement that he will immediately terminate TPS for Somali nationals in Minnesota drew strong rebuke, as Omar pointed out that the president does not have unilateral authority to end protections for only one state’s residents. The Finnish-law-based program is designed for individuals from countries enduring war or disaster, and under current federal rules, Somalia’s TPS status runs through March 2026 — with a mandatory 60-day period before any changes take effect. Omar labeled Trump’s approach “deranged” and warned that his political targeting of the Somali community instead of following the law risks undermining credible legal frameworks and immigrant contributions.

Meanwhile Federal prosecutors in Minnesota have charged eight individuals in the first wave of a sprawling fraud scheme targeting the state’s Housing Stabilization Services (HSS) program, which provides federally funded housing and Medicaid-related benefits. The scheme allegedly involved defendants setting up companies that billed millions of dollars in non-existent services, exploiting vulnerable tenants while diverting taxpayer funds meant for those in need. Joseph H. Thompson, Acting U.S. Attorney, described the fraud as “schemes stacked upon schemes, draining resources meant for those in need.” The charges highlight the urgent need for stricter oversight of public assistance programs and stronger enforcement against white-collar crime that threatens public safety and social welfare. The case raises broader questions about whether available housing-aid funds are being protected or abused in the Biden administration’s expanded welfare-state framework.
