The Cross & Resurrection — Victory Over Sin and Death

Today’s message takes us into one of the greatest truths in the Christian faith:
Jesus didn’t just rise from the dead — He defeated sin and death for us.

We walked through 1 Corinthians 15:50–58, where Paul declares:

📖 “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”
📖 “Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!”

Because of the cross and the empty tomb:

• death is defeated
• sin has lost its power
• Satan has been disarmed
• we are free from condemnation
• our identity is secure in Christ

Here’s what we learned from Scripture today:

✦ Sin’s power is broken

📖 Romans 6:6–7 — “Our old self was crucified with Him… we are freed from sin.”

✦ Satan’s weapon of fear is destroyed

📖 Hebrews 2:14–15 — Jesus destroyed “the one holding the power of death.”

✦ There is no condemnation for the believer

📖 Romans 8:1–4 — “There is now no condemnation… the law of the Spirit of life has set you free.”

✦ Victory is a gift, not something we earn

📖 2 Timothy 1:10 — Jesus “abolished death” and brought life and immortality to light.

This is who you are now in Christ:

✔ Free
✔ Forgiven
✔ Not condemned
✔ Secure
✔ Alive
✔ Victorious

You don’t fight for victory — you fight from victory.
