Two National Guardsmen in Critical Condition After Shooting in Washington, DC

Two West Virginia National Guardsmen were shot near the White House earlier today. They are both currently in critical condition. FBI Director Kash Patel said during a news conference earlier that the shooting appeared to be targeted. The shooter was shot during the attack and is also in the hospital.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has announced that 500 additional National Guard will be requested for Washington, DC.

The deployment of the National Guard in Washington, DC has been the best thing that ever happened to this city. I thank them every single day for their service.
