Dr. Sonja Kustka Resigns her Licence!

Dr. Sonja Kustka is a courageous family doctor who has been in practice for 41 years. She has been fighting the oppressive overreach of the College of Physicians for the past three and a half years. After a scout leader complained that she gave a young scout a mask exemption, the College started a lengthy investigation into her practice. She says they recently found her guilty of professional misconduct for not complying with their demands for patient records. They also suspended her licence, putting her large roster of roughly 3000 patients at risk, who had no family doctor to fulfill prescriptions, give them important test results, and so much more!

After years of struggle, Dr. Kustka recently made the decision to give up her licence as she has lost faith in the medical system and the way it is governed. Dr. Kustka believes the College of Physicians has not accepted her resignation and will continue the proceedings against her, which will bring additional costs and legal trouble to Dr. Kustka.

This started several years ago, when Dr. Kustka had a complaint reported to the College of Physicians and Surgeons by a Girl Scout leader for writing a mask exemption for a six-year old girl scout. This led to a larger investigation which required Dr. Kustka to hand over many of her files to the College of Physicians. After alerting her patients to this investigation, they said they did not want their files handed over to the College, which they viewed as a huge breach of privacy.

Dr. Kustka offered to send over the files with names redacted, but containing all other treatment details so they could evaluate her performance and see if she was a "danger" to the public.

The College refused, and there was a lengthy court battle, where the patients actually went to court themselves, at their own cost, to protect their private records. This was to no avail, and the patients were unable to protect their privacy. Now, with the college unwilling to relent, Dr. Kustka sees no other option but to resign.

It's a terrible shame we've lost a great Doctor when we have a doctor shortage, and even more so that this Doctor felt obliged to resign due to lack of confidence in the system.

But even though Dr. Kustka has resigned, the College is still coming after her. Dr. Kustka has incurred hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees and costs, but the proceedings continue. The College may use every power at their disposal, including attempting to find Dr. Kustka in contempt of court, which could lead to jail time. Please help Dr. Kustka defend herself.
