"A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" is a beloved 1973 animated TV special inspired by Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts comic strip. As the tenth Peanuts primetime special, it first aired on CBS on November 20, 1973, and went on to win an Emmy Award in 1974. It was the third holiday-themed special in the series, following "A Charlie Brown Christmas" (1965) and "It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" (1966). Aside from the classic opening football bit with Lucy, this was the first Peanuts television special to feature an entirely original storyline rather than adapting scenes directly from the newspaper strips. Running about 25 minutes and rated TV-G, the special centers on Peppermint Patty boldly inviting herself—and several friends—over to Charlie Brown’s house for Thanksgiving dinner. With help from Linus, Snoopy, and Woodstock, Charlie Brown scrambles to put together an unconventional holiday feast.
