Thousands of Airbus planes were temporarily grounded for an urgent software update after engineers discovered that intense solar radiation could interfere with onboard flight-control computers.
Around 6,000 A320-family jets — nearly half of Airbus’s global fleet — were affected, though many returned to service within hours after receiving the update.
The issue came to light after an investigation into an incident in which an A320 flying between the US and Mexico suddenly lost altitude in October.
