The "three wise men" is a traditional name for the Magi, who were visitors from the east that the Gospel of Matthew says came to see the newborn Jesus. While the Bible does not specify their number or names, tradition has named them Melchior, Caspar, and Balthazar, and they are said to have brought gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
