Where Is the $126 Billion Going?

I am all for everyone prospering — but $126 billion dollars is a lot of assets.
I could well joke, “Well, that is colonisation for you,” but seriously, those who do go on about colonisation — as the old saying goes, “You can’t have your cake and eat it too.” $126 billion dollars!
You can’t turn the clock back, so let’s rejoice in the prosperity of Māori. But is there something wrong?

As I would like to point out, because you may have seen in my post yesterday, as a church last Saturday we gave away over $137,000 worth of Christmas gifts to around 5,000 community families that had been referred to us by social agencies — families that needed some help this Christmas.
We were blessed to be able to do that!
Over 95% of those families were Māori and Pacific Islanders.

As a church, we also feed thousands of families a year — every week delivering hundreds of meals for needy families.
Over 90% of the people we help feed are also Māori and Pacific Island whānau.

My point is: with $126 billion dollars, those “elites” should be able to see every Māori family into their own home, have every Māori employed, and every family well fed!
We often hear that Māori are over-represented in prison, unemployed, etc.
Again, $126 billion dollars should go a long way toward solving these problems.

It is interesting that Brian T has been accused of taking money from low-income Māori families when in reality he has lifted many out of poverty into blessing.
And although we now have locations in South, West, and East Auckland, having started on the North Shore we were known by the media as a “Pākehā/white” mega North Shore church — even though the reality is that we have over 75 nationalities at the “white” North Shore location.

My point is that we are doing our bit for all peoples!
Christ died for all; He loves all people; He makes no distinction.
I often say, “We all bleed red.”

Other churches, like Life Church — another “mega” church — give away thousands of Christmas boxes (as we did for decades) to help families, and without speaking for Life, I’m sure the majority of the boxes would be going to Māori and Pacific Island families.
Most churches are doing something for vulnerable families of all races.

While as churches we want to and do help, I just figure that maybe some of that $126 billion dollars is not going where it really needs to.
Maybe those in charge are more interested in investing to make more profit, rather than investing in their people.
I would hope that the “powers that be” are doing something — maybe they are doing a number of things I don’t know about — in order to help their brethren.
I am just trying to ask an honest question.

We must move on as a nation and hopefully as one people!

For in the Kingdom of God / the Church, there is neither Jew nor Greek — in other words, there is neither Pākehā or Māori or Asian or Polynesian or Indian — for we are all one in Christ.
The Church has the answer to the racial problems!
So maybe the government should be helping the Church a little more.

But it also would be great to see that $126 billion trickle down to the streets, so there are not thousands in need next Christmas!
